As far as records show there has been no professional maintenance performed on the monument of Adam Lindsay Gordon since the column was blown over by a cyclone in 1918.
Since the second world war, interest in the grave and monument waned.
In 2005 it was noticed that one of the marble plaques had fallen off due to water seepage behind and had been stuck back on by blobs of what looked like carpenters glue.
Lodge Brothers Pty Ltd were employed to repair the memorial of Adam Lindsay Gordon in the Brighton General Cemetery, Melbourne,  Church of England U no 21 to re-point the existing 6 panels and clear out old pointing first, then seal the pointing: re-fix the lower panel that has come off completely. Repairs have also been made to small chips in the memorial. Mulch and fertilisers have been purchased to build up the soil around the monument  and plants have been purchased :
3 Golden Fairytale Hybrid Rose bushes.
3 Ground hugging bushes- Pultenaea Pedunculata Pyalong Gold
2. Trailing Acacia Cootamundra Wattles.
These will be planted after we get a decent shower of rain.
Receipts and photographs of the project are attached.
The project has been completed with thanks to the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts- Heritage Grants Section.

A POEM SUBMITTED TO OUR APPEAL BY TIM SHAW

There was a young man called Gordon
Who had a memorable life but a short one
Trials and tribulation
By his own creation
Saw Bridges , his love , long gone.
